Kindergarten is starting to work with the keyboard. Students have been matching letters to the keyboard so they know where the keys are located. Kindergartners are also going to learn to use the art program Wixie, to create pictures.
First grade will be starting their research project on dogs and learn how to use Google Docs to type and format text. Second grade is using Google Docs to type their animal projects and learn how to format text as well as set up a research paper. Third grade is studying continents. They are using Canva to create a newspaper on their research. Fourth grade will be using Google Sites and Google Forms to create their own website and quiz. Fifth grade is using Lucidpress to create a brochure on the wonder of the world that they have researched. Finally, Sixth grade is starting to get familiar with Powtoon so they can create a Powtoon based on a Greek myth they write. Hello everyone,
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Students have been coding for the past couple of weeks to get ready for the Hour of Code next week. You will be receiving a letter with details on how to get your child coding and why it can be helpful for their learning. Click on the link below to get started! Amagansett had a wonderful Halloween parade! It was great to see all of the students in their costumes. As we move into the month of November, all of the grades are finishing Internet Safety. We are very excited to have Detective Forrestal back on Thursday, November 15 for an internet safety presentation for the 5th and 6th graders.. Permission slips will be sent home next week. Hello everyone,
We have started internet safety in grades 2-6! Students will be learning how to be a digital citizen, how to create strong passwords, respect their community, prevent cyberbullying and much more. Grades K and 1 are diligently practicing their use of a mouse and keyboard. We start using Wixie and PaintZ this week. Happy Fall! Welcome back to school! In all of the computer classes this week, grades K-6, we will be discussing our rules of the computer lab, how to login to our websites and computer using our Login Loops, and starting to type on our keyboarding program. K-5 will be using Keyboarding without Tears and 6th grade will be using Typing.com. I look forward to another fabulous year with our students diving into the world of technology!
Kindergarten is starting completed their unit on polar animals and are diving into their community helper unit! They are creating a picture in Wixie of their community helper and typing one thing that is important about them. They have come so far since the beginning of the year!
First grade is finishing their dog project and will start their project on earthworms soon. Stay tuned! Second and Third graders are using EduBuncee to type the information they researched on their chosen country. Fourth graders are just starting to learn about different explorers and will be using Glogster to create a digital poster. Fifth graders are starting their United States unit. They each chose a state to research and will be using Google Forms to create quizzes for their presentations! Sixth graders completed their Greek Mythology unit and are starting their unit on Shakespeare. Kindergarten is starting a unit on polar animals. Students will be researching them using PebbleGo and creating a picture of their animal in Wixie.

They each picked a country and are starting to research. Fourth graders are learning about longhouses and are creating a Google Site to present the information they learn. Fifth graders continue to work on their Google Forms on NY regions. Sixth graders continue creating Powtoons based on their information on Greek gods and goddesses. KindergartenKindergarten will be completing a Valentine's day color sort and creating a picture of their favorite Valentine's candy. First GradeFirst grade is finishing their dog diagram this coming week! They have learned about the words label, diagram and words pertaining to the dogs such as forelegs and hindlegs. Second and Third GradeSecond and Third grade are working on their oceans project by creating an Edubuncee on the information they research on their ocean. Fourth GradeFourth grade is continuing to study the regions of New York. They are creating a Google Site with the information they find on their region. This week all of the tech classes, except first grade will be beading in both Library and Computer. Students have been working on various projects starting on the new year! These include:

Sixth- Greek Gods & Goddesses research. This week is the Hour of Code where students all over the world are coding on their computers. Below you will see the letter that will be sent today that will include your child's login for coding. They can also go to the code.org website and choose any Hour of Code activity. If they print out their certificate and bring it in to school to hand in, they get a prize! Have fun coding this week!
